Seeing the Northern Lights: Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are in Norway together

Prince Harry has taken his girlfriend Meghan Markle on a romantic trip to see the Northern Lights, for their first holiday together. While the pair spent Christmas many miles apart, they have now been reunited on a trip to the Norwegian fjords, where they have seen the spectacular Nothern lights and been on a whale watching tour.

It is understood that the new couple celebrated the start of 2017 together before jetting off to Tromso in Norway, where they have also enjoyed scenic trips around the lakes. According to a source close to the prince, he was determined to make their first vacation together as a couple one which his actress girlfriend would never forget.

Special and romantic

The friend said: “He’d put a lot of thought into it and wanted to make it as romantic and special as possible.” The fifth in line to the thrown is believed to have chosen where to stay after taking advice from his friend Inge Solheim, who is a polar explorer with previous experience of organising breaks for Prince Harry.

A Kensington Palace spokeswoman would neither confirm or deny that the two were in Norway. The couple’s relationship is said to have become serious very quickly, with 32 year old Prince Harry having already met the Suits actress’ father, Thomas Markle, during a visit to Canada.

Mr Markle is said to be “proud” of his daughter’s relationship with the prince, and says that he and his 35 year old daughter are “very much in love”. The pair spent Christmas apart, with Prince Harry enjoying festive celebrations at the Queen’s Sandringham estate in Norfolk. It is understood to be much too early for Ms Markle to have secured an invite to spend Christmas with senior royals. However, the Queen is believed to be delighted that her grandson has found happiness.
