Real Madrid striker, Karim Benzema, who hasn’t had the best of season has revealed that Cristiano Ronaldo cannot be said to be selfish on the pitch even though he likes to go for goal when he has the chance.
Cristiano Ronaldo is the most likely player to win this year’s Ballon d’Or after scoring 42 goals in all competition this season as Real Madrid went on to win the UEFA Champions League, La Liga, UEFA Super Cup and Club World Cup this season.
But in spite of his contribution this season, a lot of critics have accused the Portuguese forward of putting the rivalry between him and Lionel Messi first before the interest of the entire team.
However, Benzema has a different opinion as he believes Ronaldo makes assist when it is necessary to do so.
“ I don’t have any words to describe how great he is, on and off the pitch,” Benzema said.
“He’s a great player and we totally understand what needs to be done on the pitch when he is with the ball. He likes to play with the ball on his feet all the time and this makes it hard to get it when he has the ball.”
“I won’t say he is selfish but he likes going for goal whenever he has the ball and in a moment notice, he will give me an assist.”
Karim Benzema also reserved words of praise for coach Zinedine Zidane who now has five trophies after taking charge of the club in January 2016.
“He is a complete professional who knows how to handle players. We all admire for the decisions that he makes at key moments. He is even more excited than players during training sessions. We all understand what he wants.”
History Making Madrid
Real Madrid made history last weekend when they became the first team to retain the UEFA Champions League ever since the tournament was revamped in 1992, after their 4-1 win over Juventus in the final in Cardiff.
