Chelsea announced today that they have agreed a deal with Real Madrid to sign Alvaro Morata.
According to reports Chelsea will pay Real Madrid 70 million pounds for Morata and the deal is now subject to medical and personal terms.
Manchester United were chasing the signature of Morata but had to pull after negotiation got difficult between the two parties and signed Romelu Lukaku instead.
Morata is expected to replace Diego Costa who is set for a return to Atletico Madrid after he was told that he will no longer be needed at the club by manager Antonio Conte.
Chelsea’s Fourth Signing
When the signing is complete, he will be the fourth signing at the club after Antonio Rudiger, Willy Cabbelero and Tiemoue Bakayoko.
Morata only returned to Real Madrid last season after a short stint at Juventus but could not hold down a regular spot in the team all through the season and was expected to move after he was left out of the starting line up in the UEFA Champions League final.
He found the back of the net in all competition for Real Madrid last season in spite of the fact that he played second fiddle to both Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo all season.
Alvaro Morata has made over 20 appearances for Spain, with nine goals to his name.
