Teacher who was arrested for assaulting child

A second grade teacher was reportedly arrested Tuesday night for allegedly throwing a 7-year-old student across a hallway in December.

The teacher at PS 194 in Manhattan was seen on video assaulting the child, reports the NY Post.
Osman Couey, 53, is charged with assault and acting in a manner injurious to a child under 16.
He has has been teaching at the school since 1993.

In 2013, Couey was reportedly reprimanded for allegedly throwing a 7-year-old special needs student down a flight of stairs.

Couey has four letters of reprimand on his record, according to the Department of Education which issued the following statement before Couey’s arrest:

“This behavior is deeply troubling, and we are seeking to terminate this teacher’s employment. He has been removed from the classroom and reassigned away from students.”
