Coffee with Viagra-like ingredients recalled following FDA discovery

According to FDA, a North Texas coffee firm has been filling their customers with a lot more energy. Bestherbs Coffee LLC is retracting its product –New of Kopi Jantan Tradisional Herbs Coffee.

The company is recalling its product because it has an ingredient that is more like Viagra. Investigators of the federal agency analyzed the coffee and found a structurally similar ingredient to Sildenafil – an active ingredient in Viagra.

According to the result of the lab analysis, the coffee contains desmethyl carbodenafil. However, Bestherbs sold the coffee as a male enhancement product but didn’t indicate that it contains ingredients similar to Viagra.

In a statement by FDA, the compound may alter the functionality of nitrates in some prescription drugs, causing a decreased lower blood pressure that is very dangerous to the human health. Although it’s sold as a male enhancement product, the coffee poses a high risk to men who are diabetics and those with high blood pressure, heart diseases and high cholesterol.

Likewise, the product by Bestherbs contains undeclared milk that has the potential to cause health problems to consumers who are allergic to dairy products and were not looking out to have any dairy ingredient in the product.

FDA also disclosed that Besthers Coffee marketed the product from June 2014 to June 2016. And each box contains 25, packages of 13 gram each of instant coffee. Customers who purchase the coffee product can take it back to Bestherbs office in Grand Prairie and get a refund.
