On May 18, while on patrol a FCSO Deputy Sheriff observed two individuals at closing time parked on the Med Care parking lot located in Hickman, KY. Once the two men observed the deputy they exited the vehicle, raised the hood of the vehicle like it was broken down then walked away. The deputy attempted to call the pharmacy to see if the two individuals had attempted to purchase pseudoephedrine an ingredient used in the manufacturing of methamphetamine but was unable since the store had just closed. He was able to speak with an employee when they were leaving the pharmacy and inquired if the individuals had attempted to purchase pseudoephedrine; the employee confirmed they had but was unsuccessful.
The deputy went to the Little General Store where the two individuals had walked to. Once inside the store the two subjects exited the store and proceeded walking up Union City Hwy where units from the FCSO stopped the subjects. Both subjects were ran through NCIC for warrants; one of the subjects identified as Bobby J Hunter, a white male, from Troy, TN was wanted for probation violation for methamphetamine related charges out of Obion County, TN. Once Hunter was told he was under arrest he attempted to flee the scene but was apprehended by deputies. The second subject was not wanted but was detained; he was returned to the Med Care parking lot. He was identified as Matthew S Culver, a white male, from Union City, TN. Once back at the scene Culver denied any knowledge of anything illegal inside the vehicle; he stated it was not his, he had borrowed it. The vehicle was towed for various reasons; during the process of the vehicle being inventoried by the towing company immediately items were found that stopped the process and a search warrant obtained.
