Local Woman Injured In Franklin County Accident

Pennsylvania State Police in Chambersburg investigated a two-vehicle accident in Peters Township involving a Hustontown area woman on Tuesday, April 14.

Reports indicate 43-yearold Tammy W. Martz of Hustontown lost control of her eastbound 1997 Mercury Sable on Buchanan Trail at 9:25 a.m. The car spun clockwise into an oncoming 2012 Peterbilt operated by Adam Swope, 41, of Three Springs.

Both drivers were wearing seat belts. Martz was transported to Fulton County Medical Center via Mercersburg EMS for treatment of minor injuries. She will be charged by state police for failure to drive on roadways laned for traffic.

Vehicle Strikes Deer

Two McConnellsburg residents escaped injury when their southbound 2011 Ford Fusion struck a white-tailed deer on Great Cove Road Sunday. State police reports indicate 55-year-old Michael R. Ott of McConnellsburg struck the deer near the intersection of Battle Ridge Road at 8:35 p.m.

The vehicle sustained disabling damage and was removed from the scene by Lilley’s Garage. Ott and his passenger, 48-year-old Vicki L. Ott of McConnellsburg, were both wearing seat belts.

Garbage Scattered

Garbage was placed on the Lincoln Way East back lawn of a 58-year-old Mc- Connellsburg man between April 24 and 26. Anyone having further information linked to this case of scattering rubbish should call state police Trooper Hollibaugh at 717-485-3131.

DUI Charges Filed

Charges of driving under the influence of alcohol have been filed against 35-yearold Breezewood resident Jeremy Lee Brumbaugh in connection with an incident in McConnellsburg Borough.

According to state police reports, Brumbaugh was observed by troopers driving erratically Sunday at 2:30 a.m. Brumbaugh then reportedly entered the Sheetz convenience store. Charges against Brumbaugh have been filed through Magisterial District Judge Wendy Mellott.

Juvenile Accused Of Making Threats

A 15-year-old boy from Needmore is accused of waving around a shotgun and making threats during an incident at 10834 Timber Ridge Road over the weekend.

Pennsylvania State Police in McConnellsburg reported the juvenile threatened to kill a 21-year-old man from Mercersburg Saturday at 4:05 p.m. before retrieving a shotgun to go after the male victim. A 25-year-old female from Needmore reportedly tried to stop the juvenile, resulting in the pair wrestling, police said. The female victim sustained a banged knee in the altercation.

The juvenile has been charged with terroristic threats, simple assault and harassment. He was placed in a juvenile detention center by Fulton County Juvenile Probation.

Drug Charges Filed

Charges of possession of a small amount of marijuana have been filed through Magisterial District Judge Tamela Heming against an Illinois woman. State police said they detected the odor of marijuana during a traffic stop along the eastbound lanes of Interstate 70 last Tuesday. Twenty-three-yearold Dominque Smith of Matteson, Ill., was allegedly in possession of marijuana during the 8:50 a.m. stop in Brush Creek Township, police added.

Drug Charges Pending

Drug possession and the use or possession of drug paraphernalia charges are currently pending against a 35-year- old Fort Loudon man. State police in Mc- Connellsburg said the charges against the man, who was not identified by troopers, are pending lab reports and will be filed through Magisterial District Judge Devin Horne.

Police stated they initiated a traffic stop last Thursday at 9:54 p.m. at the intersection of Lincoln Highway and Route 655. During the stop, troopers reportedly detected the strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. A search of the vehicle was executed and the suspected drug and paraphernalia were seized.

Watches Stolen, Man Jailed

A Chicago, Ill., man was remanded to the Franklin County Jail last Thursday after he allegedly stole two watches valued at $20.28 from an Ayr Township store. Pennsylvania State Police in McConnellsburg alleged Terry Craft took the watches from the Family Dollar Store at 10:27 a.m. Craft was taken before Magisterial District Judge Wendy Mellott and was unable to pay fines and costs in connection with the case, resulting in his incarceration.

Tires Found

Tires were dumped at a location on Everetts Road in Thompson Township between April 15 and 17, state police said. Victim is a 46- year- old Warfordsburg woman. Anyone having further information pertinent to this case of scattering rubbish should call state police Trooper Carper at 717-485-3131.

Rocks Thrown

Large rocks were thrown from a bridge over Interstate 70 in Bethel Township last Wednesday at 4 a.m., state police reported. The rocks struck a UPS tractor-trailer driven by a 54-year-old Ligonier, Pa., man.
