The three Mississippi teens face charges of kidnapping and sexual assault charges after recording a Facebook live video
Authorities in Mississippi were called to a Gulfport home on Tuesday evening following reports of assault, after a video was aired on the popular Facebook Live function and watched by thousands.
The video portrays a man asking for oral sex from a woman, with other voices in the background (also male) jeering at the woman and demanding she perform the sex act. A female is heard to say that the woman would not be allowed to leave without performing the act.
“She ain’t going home until her throat swells up.” the female in the background says.
Ezzie Johnson (17), Kadari Fabien Booker (17), and Haleigh Alexis Hudson (19), were arrested on charges of felony kidnapping and sexual assault of the woman, a 23-year-old who has not yet been identified.
Gulfport Police Chief Leonard Papania said on Wednesday that Johnson was recording the sexual and physical assault of the 23-year-old victim.
The video was removed from Facebook, but had been shared over a thousand times and viewed nearly 85,000 times.
The perpetrators believed to have known the victim prior to the incident, victim may have special needs
Investigators in the case believe that Johnson and Hudson knew the victim prior to the assault, and revealed that the victim allegedly has special needs.
Chief Papania made a statement assuring that these claims will be investigated and additional charges could be added.
Papania also commented: “I wish people would look at just how warped our society has become. We videotape pain and suffering, then we share it and we view it over and over.”
“And I don’t doubt this story will be dead in two days and everybody [will] move on to something else and you still have ta victim of a crime.”
